Have you tried running from inside the docker container?
Here is how I have been able to run the tests locally on macos,
cd build/docker
docker build ubuntu
Once the image is finished building get the image id via
docker images
Run the docker image & open a shell,
docker run -v /Users/eric/Documents/thrift:/thrift/src -it _<image_id>_
/bin/bash
Run
./bootstrap.sh
./configure
make
Then make check from wherever.
