Randy Abernethy commented on THRIFT-2426:
-----------------------------------------

The issue is that the Apache 2 lic  requires preservation of copyright. Code in
the Apache repo can not have copyright Facebook 2014 or whatever (which AFAIK
all of the fbthrift code is). If fb staff contribute it w/o copyright then it's
ok. If they blanket grant the fbthrift code to apache then anyone contributing
it would be ok. As it is, it is not ok.

What can you do?
 # Create a patch and get them to contrib it
 # Get them to provide blanket auth for their entire fbthrift repo to be
contributed

1 has been done but is a headache for them (and us really). 2 has been rejected
by them in the past but if you can get it done that would be great.
