If changes in the build process need to be made, feel free to make a proposal 
(PR). 
Meanwhile, I will reach out to the maintainer of the current "official" image 
which isn't official and fix that point. 

Regarding pre-release bits: As explained above, we can't do that, as per ASF 
policies. All published stuff must be voted on, and even if we mark it as "pre 
release" it would still have the ASF name on it when we publish it, hence the 
"pre" label is not worth anything at all.
