Jens Geyer updated THRIFT-5702:
-------------------------------
    Description:
Fokko commented on Apr 14
{quote} I think it makes sense to support Java 8 as well. It is still being
supported until 2030, and it looks like we're not using any Java 11+ features.
{quote}

Jimexist commented on Apr 14
{quote} we kind of removed this not long ago. is there a possibility that
downstream projects migrate to java 11? {quote}

Fokko commented on Apr 14 •
{quote} @Jimexist Eventually all projects will migrate, but this isn't the case
today. Parquet, Iceberg, and Hadoop are still very much on Java 8, and probably
many more. There is no real downside in making it also Java 8 compatible since
the codebase clearly does not use Java 11+ syntaxes (otherwise it wouldn't
compile). {quote}
