Hi,

we already have two:

- https://lists.apache.org/[email protected]
- https://lists.apache.org/[email protected]

Thrift Devs-

It's getting really hard to follow human conversations in this dev
mailing list lately, because there's so much spam from GitHub and JIRA
being dumped into this list.

I would like to propose (and *STRONGLY* recommend) that we create a
separate [email protected] list, and then update the
.asf.yaml/GitHub/JIRA settings to send automated notifications to this
list only. The list should be restricted, so that really only
automated notifications go there. If somebody wants to reply to an
email to that list, they can reply-to dev@ instead.

This has many benefits:

1. Helps people track the actual human discussions without as much
mailing list noise.
2. Gives people the option of following all email, or just the human
conversations (or just the automated email, if they really want to do
that).
3. Removes redundant notifications for people who track GitHub
activity using https://github.com/notifications
4. Removes redundant notifications, and creates fewer notifications
overall, for people who subscribe to JIRA notifications using a filter
to send daily or weekly summaries of activity.
5. Prevents GMail and other email providers from incorrectly
"learning" that these automated notifications are spam when people
create inbox filter rules, or out of habit, automatically delete them
from their inbox.

Any objections or thoughts on this?

Thanks,
Christopher
