Thanks Martin. I think the use case here that would be great, would be 
something like:

tika < geofile (e.g., ISO-19115) > Tika XHTML
tika -m < geofile (e.g., ISO-19115) > ISO-19115 metadata

Thoughts of easy ways of accomplishing the above?
