Agreed. The _actual_ detectors have to be state-ful...no doubt about that (at
least with the ones I've worked with), but we could 1) wrap them in an outer
class that is stateless but instantiates a state-ful detector (like we do with
the RTFParser, PDFParser, SQLiteParser, etc) or 2) perhaps use a factory.
It would be more in keeping with the parsers if we went with option 1.
