Sounds like it's checking permissions then skipping extraction, so isn't a fair 
test. You'd either need to tell it to ignore permissions for testing (not sure 
how to do that myself, sorry), or tell Tika to skip documents with 
no-extraction set (default is to extract but record the flag for downstream use)
