Nick Burch commented on TIKA-2603:
----------------------------------
If there's a small-ish Apache License 2.0 or similar library for ISO-9660 files
(ideally support for the more modern extensions like Joliet), it'd be great to
add support similar to other package / archive formats. I don't see why we
couldn't handle it similar to zip / tar / etc, with the help of a suitable
library
See https://www.apache.org/legal/resolved.html#category-a for the definition of
"or similar", license wise!

> I would like to discuss whether it makes sense or not to extract ISO9660
> Images within Apache TIKA.
> The mimetype application/x-iso9660-image was added more than 5 years ago (see
> TIKA-900), but the current tika-app does not even try to read the content of
> iso images.
> There are several 3rd party libraries out there that can read .iso content
> and extract it.
> One of them should fit the Apache License 2.0?
> Is there already a build in extraction mechanism in VFS or is VFS still using
> 3rd Party libraries?
> Did I miss something?
> Would this be worth a try or would this be to expensive in view of memory?
