Tim Allison commented on TIKA-4723:
-----------------------------------
The full upload time to nexus was > an hour. This was the largest component.
I imagine most users will be using this via Docker?
We have the flexibility in alpha to select Docker as the default, put
everything into the Docker image and ship without ignite and the plugins
bundled to maven.
The great thing about the bundle as is is that everything is there, obv. With
tika-server, users have to add the fetcher/emitter plugins manually, which adds
friction.
If you feel at all strongly about keeping this as is, we should.
> Slim down grpc?

> For 4.0.0-beta, we should figure out if we can slim down tika-grpc mostly
> just for environmental reasons. It currently weighs in at 648MB.
> If we said we only support it in Docker, we could strip out some native libs.
> Other options? Claude, copilot and/or gemini, please help us save the
> environment!
