We should not have snapshot dependencies in a release. As Greg mentioned, the release plugin won't allow it. Snapshots make it hard to check out the tag later and build it, or to build our release distribution. There's no guarantee that the snapshots will not have changed, or even whether they'll still be there later. I'm sure we can do what we need to do with the released version of the Assembly plugin. How much code is involved in Portlet support? Can we keep it in Tiles svn and switch over once Shale gets released? At a minimum, "mvn install" needs to work from a clean local repo, without any snapshot repos defined in our pom. -- Wendy
