Hi all,

I was reviewing the RAT reports, preparing the release of tiles-autotag (among others), and this question came up.

What kind of header should we put on the files generated by autotag?

* Right now, we're putting nothing: during unit test, we compare the generated files to templates and RAT complains about those templates missing headers. * If I add the ASL header to those templates, then it will appear in the files generated by our users with autotag. But can we claim copyright of the generated files? * I can also configure the RAT plugin to ignore those templates. But we do claim copyright of the templates, don't we?

So I'm wondering. I'm considering adding a header that says the file is generated, and claims copyright of the generator.

Is there a best practice about this kind of situation at Apache?

Nick.
