The {{dedup()}} comparison is a good point. 

Also, as I was falling asleep, I thought:

With {{OrderLimitStrategy}}, it would have the same performance as a 
{{ReducingBarrierStep}} in that only the top 1 is preserved at every merge. 
However, {{OrderLimitStratetgy}} is currently only an OLAP strategy (forget 
why).
