Oh, now I see what you're saying. Yes, this would be the right way to go.
The current `PropertyMapStep` implementation is pretty weird.
```java
protected Map<String, E> map(...) {
final Map<Object, Object> map = new HashMap<>();
...
return (Map) map;
}
```
