Reverted from 4.1.x given conflicts with Spark - attempted this craziness to
resolve:
https://github.com/apache/tinkerpop/pull/826
but upon reflection seemed like way to big a hack. Will reserve 4.1.x until the
future (for 3.4.x most likely when spark could be upgraded)
