Matt Frantz commented on TINKERPOP3-873:
----------------------------------------

Why is {{BulkSet}} more efficient?

{{List}} preserves order, so presumably the following query would break:

{noformat}
g.V().order().by('name', incr).fold()
{noformat}

A user can always provide arguments to {{fold}} to use a different container,
right?

> FoldStep should default to using BulkSet for efficiency.

> This is easy, the problem is that:
> {code}
> GraphTraversal<S,List<E>> fold()
> {code}
> would become:
> {code}
> GraphTraversal<S,Set<E>> fold()
> {code}
> We could make {{BulkSet}} implement List as it does in fact contain all the
> elements inserted, just not in their respective insert order. Does {{List}}
> require that the insert order be preserved? {{UnorderedList}} (is that a
> thing?)
