We have mirrored your mail list in a new application that provides a more
aggregated and safe environment which utilizes the power of broadband.
Did you ask anyone at Apache before doing this or did you just do it?

Roomity.com v 1.5 is a web 2.01 community webapp. Our newest version adds
broadcast video and social networking such as favorite authors and an html
editor.

It?s free to join and any feedback would be appreciated.
Anything that enhances the community is good. Anything that damages it is bad.

I have no problem with these sorts of services in principle. If part of the Tomcat community wants to use this type of service then fine. However, there are a few basic criteria that must be met.
1. Posters must know they are posting to an Apache hosted list.
2. Posters must be individually identifiable.
3. Mailing list guidelines must be available before posting.

If roomity allows posting to the Tomcat lists:
1 & 3 Need to be fixed.
2 If posters are not individually identifiable, this needs to be fixed too.

More generally, the site is inconsistent (users is in the java category and dev is in the Jakarta category) and out of date (Tomcat moved to TLP about a month ago). These points combined suggest a disconnect from / lack of understanding of the Tomcat community that is a cause of concern.

Similar services have had similar issues in the early days. Typically, they have disabled posting to Apache lists until the issues are resolved.
