Plan, following comment #5: when the underlying connection itself implements java.sql.Wrapper, ProxyConnection.isWrapperFor() will fall back to delegating to it, and unwrap() will delegate to the underlying connection's unwrap() when that returns true. The existing behaviour (PooledConnection, XAConnection, direct instanceof match) stays as is and is checked first. I'll include a unit test using a double-wrapped connection from the test driver, and submit it as a GitHub PR against main.
