I would agree with Filip, that the patches should not be inlined in the STATUS file. The file is for "status", so should be good for an overview (which patches are open for voting, how many votes are missing, etc.)

Of course the patches need to be available but anything online and URL describable will work. Either links to p.a.o or bugzillas (or to svn when future trunk ptaches are proposed for backporting) should be OK.
