Hi all,

I found the attached mail, which was sent to users@tomee.a.o

In the past, there was some discussion about versioning and EOL of
older versions of TomEE in various mail threads (but no consens was
found nor a descision was made).

I think, that we are not really clear on our website until when we want
to maintain / patch older TomEE versions. Obviously, 1.7.5 is no longer
supported (no release since 2017 - but has no EOL marker on the
website). 7.0.x and 7.1.x had a last release in 2020 - I don't no the
state here either.

I think, we are missing some sort of announcement / clarification
regarding "maintained" versions of TomEE on the website leading to user
confusion on the user list or on third party platforms such as
Stackoverflow.

Tomcat is doing this by posting EOL statements like:

- https://tomcat.apache.org/tomcat-80-eol.html

Maybe we should think about a similar announcement strategy? Wdyt?

Gruss
Richard
