I think it's potentially worth also having `ldap.is_configured() -> bool` which could be used as an explicit gate around checks elsewhere in the system. We'd be saying "if it's not configured, don't bother checking for active/banned". And that function could also possibly raise if it found unconfigured LDAP in production -- This is an automated message from the Apache Git Service.
