Here is the trace of my cvs update,which shows that nothing
got updated and the error persists:

update -d -P

cvs update: Empty password used - try 'cvs login' with a
real password

Can you say something about the nature of the error? What
fixes this?
I did the original CVS checkout yesterday. Did the update
just now.
