[2008-01-04 11:01:11] <sb> Hi Martin :)
[2008-01-04 11:01:35] <sb> Oh, we are four, actually. :)
[2008-01-04 11:02:27] <sb> Anything to discuss? (I personally am working
away at the three-layered OOo stuff, as I put on wiki yesterday, and
have nothing else.)

[2008-01-04 11:03:17] <mdamboldt> Hi
[2008-01-04 11:03:47] <_Nesshof_> not from my side
[2008-01-04 11:04:32] <sb> So, we meet again in February?
[2008-01-04 11:04:39] <thorstenziehm> I took a look at the Wiki page. I
have only one question. Could we still have the system integration
(filetypes etc) as we had?
[2008-01-04 11:05:02] <sb> thorstenziehm: Yes, sure.
[2008-01-04 11:05:08] <thorstenziehm> I saw, that you wrote, that only
soffice.bin can be registered
[2008-01-04 11:05:10] <sb> It will be part of the brand layer.
[2008-01-04 11:05:34] <thorstenziehm> OK, thanks.
[2008-01-04 11:05:39] <sb> And only one brand layer can do system
integration (not different to today's situation, where only one
installed office can do integration).
[2008-01-04 11:07:42] <mdamboldt> sb: So the last installed brand wins
for integration?
[2008-01-04 11:08:05] <sb> How does it work today?
[2008-01-04 11:08:22] <mdamboldt> sb: The last you install wins.
[2008-01-04 11:08:58] <sb> So, that will not change then.
[2008-01-04 11:12:47] <mdamboldt> sb: I quickly run over the Wiki Statis
page. Will there be a kind of wrapper or one single installer for users
which contains the URE, Branding, etc. Package so users only install one
item to have all with one installation and not to install one after each
other on their own?
[2008-01-04 11:14:50] <sb> Yes, we will continue to have "traditional"
installation sets (Ingo is currently working on this) that include
everything needed. The difference to today is that parts of those
installation sets are shared (means, are identical) across products. My
"experimental new products" are just that, experimental stuff to keep me
going.
[2008-01-04 11:15:17] <mdamboldt> sb: Ok, thanks!
[2008-01-04 11:15:43] <thorstenziehm> What is the plan for OOo 3.0 Beta?
The packaging will still be changed, I'm right? This means, that we will
not be updateable from Beta to Final? This must be clear for all stake
holders (especially for StarOffice or other Brands)
[2008-01-04 11:17:23] <mdamboldt> thorstenziehm: I would guess it's less
important to upgrade from Beta to Full, than being able to migrate user
configuration settings from OOo 2.x to OOo 3.0 Final.
[2008-01-04 11:17:46] <mdamboldt> Btw. does anybody know about plans for
transferring configuration from OOo 2.x to OOo 3.0?
[2008-01-04 11:18:55] <thorstenziehm> mdamboldt : You know us. Before we
are final somebody will tell us, that we have to update from Beta to
Final. It must be clear now, that we cannot do this, when the package
structure changed between Beta and Final!
[2008-01-04 11:20:00] <mdamboldt> thorstenziehm: Yes, would I tried to
point out is if we are low on ressources, my favor would be transfer
from 2.x to 3.0 instead of Beta to Full.
[2008-01-04 11:21:44] <thorstenziehm> mdamboldt : You are right, the
config settings from 2.x to 3.0 have to be transfered/intergrated. This
is more important than Beta to Final.
[2008-01-04 11:22:23] <sb> Plan is of course to have such ambitious
projects as this ready for beta. Whether upgrade mechanisms (which
would only need to be available for OOo 3.1) are already available at
OOo 3.0 final (to allow upgrade from OOo 3.0 beta) is another question,
I would hope we can do without?
[2008-01-04 11:23:14] <sb> Just to clarify: transfering settings from
2.x to 3.0 is not directly related to ooopackaging topic.
[2008-01-04 11:29:37] <sb> anything else?
[2008-01-04 11:30:05] <thorstenziehm> no, not from my side
[2008-01-04 11:32:07] <mdamboldt> no
[2008-01-04 11:33:07] <sb> ok, bye then
[2008-01-04 11:33:17] <mdamboldt> bye
