Back to the original use case which triggered this thread. If you do
rename of a Java class in an IDE then not only the file name will be
changed but also quite a number of places inside the file.
Relying here on heuristics, is asking for trouble, I think. The IDE
should simply issue a SCM rename operation IMHO.
Be explicit where possible.
And if you rename a Java package, it's nice if your VCS can capture that
too (by recording a directory rename).
Yep and this is one of the places where Bazaar shines - and SVN, too,
for the matter, but SVN still can't forward changes.
