Hmm...we did see this problem a long time ago (pre 2.0) where GC was happening on the TR which caused HTTPS requests to stop. Are you able to reproduce? If so, can you see what the box is doing while your requests are timing out? Can you check if that is when GC is running? Also, are you running TR with the recommended settings from the docs[1]?
