As part of modularization review, need to look at new code paths versus old 
code paths for various features. This is because in some cases not all code was 
clearly marked/commented/#ifdef as being on the modular vs non-modular code 
paths.
e.g. new 'librecords' usage for configuration variables and statistics vs old 
way.
