It looks like it might be related to this gcc bug which is marked resolved/fixed.
http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=16625 which has a duplicate http://gcc.gnu.org/bugzilla/show_bug.cgi?id=16849 that was reported against gcc 4.0.0. I can't find any more recent reference though.
