We've just had that discussion over at httpd.

I was +-0 there, and the same here.  Not against it, but neither
would I want to be pushed by the more belligerent elements of the
peanut gallery.  It's only a tool!

IMHO an important consideration is to work within what infra@
is ready for, and comfortable with.  One point raised on httpd
is that early adopters should preferably be prepared to put some
effort in to improving the infrastructure.  Working in python on
git hooks was specifically mentioned.
