what is the difference between hbase option COMPACT_COMPRESSION and COMPRESSION

Hi all,
       in SQL Reference Manual, there are two hbase options named 
COMPACT_COMPRESSION and COMPRESSION, and those accepted values are same. are 
they different from each other? they corresponds to which one of the hbase 
parameters
