I was more asking if an archetype is something to focus on now, with M2, or
later for the actual release.
I.e where do we put our resources now?

I think the groundwork is not release-specific, so I see no relation
here. I started some archetype experiments for the 2.3.3 release, but
still have some difficulties with the concept. However built once it
would be easy to transfer to the 4.x release.
