I believe there is a module in Geronimo that is built w/o the IDEA
code. I'm not sure if it's up-to-date with the Bouncy Castle
releases. Copying Rick McGuire who did some work on this in case I
missed something. I'd hate to see folks jump through additional hoops
on this.

Very good news indeed for any project using BouncyCastle. There is now
a regular build of BC that does not include the IDEA patented
algorithm, and is therefore safe to use in Apache distributions
[allegedly!]
