You are partially right I guess :) I know for sure that the 1.x
contrib has several "dormant"  modules that were removed from 1.x
trunk to streamline the build process...

Are you suggesting we get rid of these ? Or should we just make them
available in project-branch-branch ? I'd rather have it available
somewhere for future reference/bring up if nedded.
