Simon Nash commented on TUSCANY-3678:
-------------------------------------
I haven't made any changes to the list of samples in the source or binary
distros in 1.6.1. I think changes like this should be deferred to 1.7.
I think the correct solution to this issue is to use the trunk/contrib approach
that we are using for 2.x. If samples aren't ready to go in the binary distro
for a release (for whatever reason), they should be be moved to
trunk/contrib/samples and they should also be excluded from the released source
distro.
The same approach should apply to modules. It looks like there are 19 modules
in the source distro that aren't included in the binary distro.
These differerences are important because the source distro is considered the
"official" Apache release, with the binary distro provided for convenience. So
if we don't think something is ready to be released in the binary distro, we
shouldn't be releasing it in the source distro.
