Many failures due to sample moves

Recent sample moves have left lots of things failing (can we try and not
checking in moved things without first testing that nothing is broken as a
result - the svn move is the easy bit!).
I have fixes but svn is down. I'm attaching a patch as I have to go now and it
would be a shame to have someone else spend another day trying to fix this up.
