That finding illustrates that it is not only about application domains
but actually the questions we were asking so far do qualify for
research topics. I am for instance are interested in research
questions such as how could computing cycles be offloaded on embedded
devices from the main CPU to the GPU or similar accompanying CPUs such
as an FPGA chip. The latter is for instance built-in into recent Atom
CPUs such as the Intel Atom E6xx series [1] and has been for instance
recently incorporated into the Soekris net6501 platform [2]. I think
this kind of optimization is a complete new topic and thus different
to the original idea of this mail thread but if you try to have a
holistic view on pervasive computing I think it's probably one aspect
of such a holistic view. Additionally Jean-Sebastien Delfino recently
experimented with Tuscany native and OpenCL [3]. I guess OpenCL-based
optimization should be possible for instance on Linaro-compliant [4]
platforms.
