Thanks to Joerg's tests, problems for the bootstrap implementation
have been discovered on Windows only. That is because certain
constants are only available on *ix/Mac, like os.WNOHANG among other
small things. I see what I can find out, but it's like there is no
fully clean way to launch processes independent from the platform
they're running on with Python 2.3 (2.4 seems not to have made big
improvements on this subject either). The only possibility I yet found
out to make all the checking under Win32 is to use Mark Hammond's
win32all package, but that's not really a choice for us, since we
don't want to make use of 3rd party Python modules.
If anyone with Python knowledge has a good solution, please contribute.
