Thanks for the help. However, I cannot use the SDK. We want to evaluate the UDK for use in a larger project where we only need UNO, no OpenOffice access. In order to start, I would need some help on how to build only the UDK.

Even if you only use the URE (see Laurent's last post), the SDK is still the way to program it (we only have a single SDK that can be used for both OOo and URE).

You might also experience some name confusion, note that we do not have a product called "UDK," it is just the name of the OOo sub-project (udk.openoffice.org). The products we have are
- OOo itself
- URE, a UNO runtime independent of OOo
- SDK, to program either OOo or URE
To build the URE product yourself, you currently nevertheless need to build the complete OOo (both products fall out of module instsetoo_native). However, you can also download a pre-built URE from download.openoffice.org.

Any help on what to checkout and how to compile is appreciated. If I succeed, I'll gladly write everything up and contribute a HowTo, but I need some starting points...

Jochen

Hi Joche

is there a "getting started" or "howto" documentation for the UDK, explaining what I need to install, check out, compile etc.?

I can suggest you the SDK you'll find at
http://api.openoffice.org/SDK/index.html

it contains various tools and the developper's guide
