I have an example: let's say that A1 cell in Calc is formatted as Date, A2 cell if formatted as Currency and so on... The problem is: I want to convert ALL the A column to standard, so I would do: right click on A letter to select all the column, and guess what ? In Format cells menu Standard is selected. I click OK and wait... it didnt do nothing. Of course there are solutions, but not the straight one... The straight solution is "If I see Standard selected and I click OK it should convert all the column to Standard and only if I click Cancel it should leave the column as it was".
A better solution would be to not select "Standard" if cells with different formats are selected. Issue 26725 exists for this.
Another observation would be that in M$ Excel, when you select some cells and copy them with CTRL+C and next you press ENTER, the ENTER acts like Paste which is faster than CTRL+V ;)
That's only possible if you assume that "paste" is executed directly after "copy". But the usual clipboard semantics allow you to copy something to the clipboard, do any other modifications to the document, and then paste the clipboard contents. These other modifications would be difficult if the ENTER key wasn't available with its usual meaning.
