Hi,
I raised some concerns regarding OpenOffice's user interface at the mailing
list, but got no reply. The only UI-related information/projects for
OpenOffice were from 2000-2003, but nothing recent was available. I wrote:

" I have been using OpenOffice.org for a few months, and have read many
complaints on the web (as well as in the OOO forums) about the user
interface (mainly concerning version 1) being ugly and old. Although version
2 has taken great strides to becoming more aesthetic (which today is very
important considering most applications have moved to 16-bit icons), the way
this user interface is presented. For example, some icons seem out of place,
some are unaligned, and consistency lacks in some parts of the GUI, issues
which most applications have under control. That's not to say that these are
major flaws or something of great concern, but if OOO is striving to be the
best productivity suite alternative there is, these things should be
addressed. They may seem insignificant, but addressing them would contribute
to a more comfortable, streamlined workspace for users. An example is
available at egn.i2.net.nz/ooo. For this, I propose something similar to
what Mozilla have done regarding Firefox- creating a graphic interface
guideline group to create standards to ensure consistency across the suite
and make decisions/recommendations regarding things such as icon design and
application layouts. "

I have since found the UI project, but as mentioned, everything is outdated.
I was wondering what recent developments have been made, who was now
responsible for the UI and if I could offer my help in any way.

Regards,

Ivan.
