Subject: Draft OOo 2.x User Guide
Date: Sun, 11 Jun 2006 12:22:31 -0700

Hi, Roderick,

I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but the draft guide has a severe
accessibility issue for blind OOo users. The guide seems to fairly
consistently lay out step-by-step instructions using mouse click steps.
(I haven't checked all pages, just a spot check.) That doesn't work for
blind users. They need the keystroke command sequences instead.

Also, in running the guide through the Acrobat Reader's accessibility
quick-check, I get an error message saying that accessibility document
navigation is not included.

I am concerned both by the limitations thus imposed on disabled persons
and by the risk that Microsoft might use the accessibility bug as a
weapon against OOo as it did against OpenDocument in Massachusetts.

Best regards,
