Hi,

UIMA AS is not really intended for open web service applications,
primarily because clients have to use UIMA specific APIs.
It is better suited for scale out over a private network with
custom clients. These solutions do overlap in that a public
REST service can distribute processing via UIMA AS to a
back-office cluster.
