There's a very long thread about having eclipse artifacts for maven users here:
https://bugs.eclipse.org/bugs/show_bug.cgi?id=283745. It looks like it's going
in the right direction, but may not be available yet.
I looked at Eclipse 3.7 (Indigo)

for the method "setMessage(...)" and didn't find one in a package
org.eclipse.ui.views ... Are you sure you've got the right package/method?
There's probably a very clumsy workaround we can cobble together that would
mimic what maven does for this, using some other source, like an eclipse update
site.
