Richard Eckart de Castilho commented on UIMA-2870:
--------------------------------------------------
Unfortunately, just moving the stuff doesn't work, because the test components
for the CPE stuff use the same classes as the test cases for SimplePipeline
and other parts of UIMA, e.g. SingleFileXReader. To make these re-usable, I'd
also have to move them to a separate module and from src/test to src/main in
that new module. I consider creating a new module "uimafit-testing" for that.

> CpeBuilder - Do we really want to encourage people to build CPEs? My
> impression in general is that UIMA is moving away from CPEs. And
> anyway, for actually running code, we have SimplePipeline, etc.
> As an added benefit, if we remove both of the above, I believe we can
> remove the entire uimaFIT dependency on uimaj-tools, and the resulting
> transitive dependencies on uimaj-cpe, uimaj-adapter-vinci, jVinci, and
> uimaj-document-annotation.

> I'd like to keep the CpeBuilder in uimaFIT, because I actually use it.
> It could be moved to a separate module, to remove the dependencies from
> the core uimafit.

> Yeah, that would be great if you don't mind too much.
