Lou DeGenaro commented on UIMA-3491:
------------------------------------

Images are now pluggable. In particular, the WS now comprises a new folder:
webserver/root/resources

Therein contained are 2 default images borrowed from the UIMA web site itself:
UIMA_banner2tlpTm.png
UIMA.png

and a mapping file:
image-map.properties

The mapping file maps keys used by the WS to images to display. The current
mapping (below) produces the same effects as those experienced prior to this
pluggability change. There are several benefits from this change:

1. The default images have no additional licensing requirements
2. The absence of the mapping file will cause the WS to employ the default
images
3. The absence of a mapped image will cased the WS to employ the default image

Ultimately, this means that the below listed images can be packaged from
separately from UIMA-DUCC and later deployed to the opensources/images folder,
thus significantly reducing the licensing encumbrances introduced by the WS.

> There's a very long discussion going on in the apache-legal discuss list
> about this, with the IBM Lawyer stating:
> AL2.0 licensed code, by itself, is easy for a commercial user to consume.
> AL2.0 licensed code, with embedded CC-BY code, is not.
