Peter Klügl commented on UIMA-4803:
-----------------------------------

The new VM option only counts if Eclipse has been started in development mode
(e.g., from within another Eclipse).

The problem is that the implementation of uimaj cannot be found in the
classpath of the new vm in which RutaLauncher is started. Normally, the
uimaj-core jar within the uima runtime plugin jar is utilized in common ruta
projects. In maven-based project, the jar of the dependencies can be utilized.
I changed some small things for ruta 2.4.0 but I would have never thought that
they cause troubles, especially for a specific OS only.

I will investigate my changes and will try to reproduce it when I find someone
with OSX (problematic)

Another question: What natures does the project have? ruta, java, maven/m2e?
(can be found in the .project file)

> Updating to Ruta 2.4 causes my project to no longer compile. The main script
> quits with the exception below. Occurs in both Eclipse Luna and Mars with
> UIMA 2.8.1. I did "UIMA Ruta" -> "Update Project" and "UIMA Ruta" -> "Convert
> to Ruta Project" but it did not help. Uninstalling 2.4 and reinstalling 2.3.1
> fixes it.
