how to configure maven scm connection for git

I am looking at uimafit's pom, and see this:

<developerConnection>scm:git:g...@github.com:apache/uima-uimafit.git</developerConnection>

I'm wondering about the ":" after the g...@github.com - should that be a "/"?

If not, can anyone point to some ref docs that describe this syntax?
