Hi, As part of the Google Summer of Code, I'll be giving a very short walkthrough of UIMA concepts to Huy Ta, our new GSoC contributor next week. I have decided to extend the invitation to other members of the UIMA community. The 45' Google Meet will take place on Monday, June 3rd (next Monday) at 10 am California time.
If you're subscribed to this mailing list most probably I won't be saying anything new but this could be a good opportunity to help other people in your organization become familiar with UIMA concepts. I'll be presenting my own views and opinions focusing on the pre-3.x UIMA and UIMA-CPP. The mini-tutorial is truly minimal (30 minutes) and it covers the following topics (at a basic and conceptual level): 1. What problem does UIMA solve 2. Stand-off annotations 3. Programs + metadata 4. Subjects of Analysis (SofA) 5. Annotators (Analysis Engines) 6. Annotations / Features / Feature Structures 7. Indices 8. CAS 9. Pipelines (Aggregate Analysis Engines) 10. Collection Readers / CAS Consumers 11. Non-linear pipelines: CAS Multiplier, Flow Controller 12. Serialization 13. Client-server: UIMA-AS 14. NLP in 2024: deep learning, end-to-end, all tokens 15. UIMA-CPP 16. A possible future We'll have 15' for questions and discussion after. If you want to attend, email me privately and I'll add you to the calendar invite. Best regards, P
