h3. Summary
The profile import/export router extension still pins {{kafka-clients}} to
{{0.11.0.3}} (see {{extensions/router/pom.xml}}). That library is old, and a
much newer release line is available. For Unomi 4.0 we keep the current pin
because the default router mode is {{nobroker}} (Kafka is only used when an
operator explicitly switches the router to Kafka). The goal of this ticket is
to move the router (and Camel Kafka wiring) to a current {{kafka-clients}}
release in a later version, with enough testing that Kafka mode still works for
import and export.
Note: the {{kafka-injector}} plugin already follows the root BOM
{{kafka-client.version}} (currently {{2.6.3}}). This ticket is mainly about the
router pin and its Camel Kafka dependency.
h3. Ways to explore
* Pick a supported {{kafka-clients}} line that works with the Camel Kafka
version Unomi ships.
* Update {{extensions/router}} (and the Karaf feature wrap) together so OSGi
resolution stays consistent.
* Check whether the injector BOM version should be aligned in the same change
or kept separate.
h3. How to test
* Build Unomi with the new versions.
* Run the usual tests.
* Manually exercise router profile import/export with
{{router.config.type=kafka}} against a recent Kafka broker.
