I don't think we need the distributionManagement for the site. Just a
note to inform that site:site and scm-publish:publish-scm is required.

We don’t use the site:deploy anyway so this is just to be able to run site:site
and site:stage. We deploy the site using the
mvn scm-publish:publish-scm Maven plugin goal (see the root
generate-site-and-upload.sh script).
Does anybody know a cleaner way of achieving this ?
