I had the same issue - fixed it by updating the following properties in
config/src/main/resources/usergrid-default.properties
usergrid.sysadmin.login.name=superuser
[email protected]
usergrid.sysadmin.login.password=superuser
usergrid.sysadmin.login.allowed=true
